My favorite project

After, we moved on to the antique set (a vanity, dresser and a nightstand), which was intended to go into my customer’s daughter’s bedroom because it already had an antique bed headboard. My main goal with the antique set was to fully refurbish it and give it a fresh look. I worked with particular passion as it was a really exciting part of the project. When the customer saw how I had transformed the furniture she decided to keep the vanity in her bedroom as a vanity-nightstand.

In relation to the antique theme, I refurbished the customers old chair. This chair added lots of rose color to the room. So I matched the pillows and other decor in the room with the chair by making them the same color.

The customer’s husband needed a side table, and I came across one at an estate sale. It required renovation, so once that was done I painted it in the colors of the bedroom.

When I first walked in this bedroom I saw gorgeous RH’s bed, a perfect rug and a real antique set (dresser, vanity and nightstand) which stayed in the corner and had never been used because of its bad condition.

We began with Roman shades. I found amazing linen fabric with silver pattern. The customer needed 100% blackout because the window was on the south side of the room, so I had to put another layer of fabric which had a blackout feature

Then we continued with the curtains. First, we used customer’s drapes, which were bought a couple years ago. They had decent quality but on the walls they looked cheap and simple. Therefore, during my trip to Ukraine I bought beautiful linen fabric, it was manufactured in an old fashioned way and it perfectly matched with the Roman shades. Then I found another gorgeous linen fabric with silver gradient. In order to sprinkle in a bit more color l made a sage strip going along the curtains.

In order to provide some extra storage as well as make a TV stand we used the customer’s buffet from the dining room. Initially, I had an awkward brown color to it, so I had to repaint it in dark walnut on top and gray with delicate white accents on the body.

Then we started working on the reading space. Where we also used the customer’s old chair. I changed the color of wood and reupholstered the fabric with silver and turquoise stripes. For extra comfort I made an antique style bench-ottoman and added linen pillow with herb embroidery.

My customer was dreaming of having a bench in front of the bed. I found a beautiful  bench at an estate sale which I transformed in shabby chic style with rustic fabric on the bottom. My customer was extremely surprised with the end result.

We were trying to decorate the walls with something interesting. In the customer’s basement, we found some adorable botanical pictures, which perfectly emphasized the atmosphere of the room. I only had to change the frames, in order to match it with the style of the bed.

A week before the end of the project, I was finishing up the nine pillows for the bed, and finalIy I came across the perfect blanked. As we added last touches to the decor of the bedroom it became particularly unique and unrepeated.
